What is Therapeutic Emotional Support
A therapeutic emotional support classroom is an educational setting designed to support students with signification emotional and/or behavioral needs.
- Students in this program have an IEP.
- Supported by a school psychologist who delivers daily social skills instruction and meets with students individually.
- The program integrates academic instruction with individualized supports.
- Low student-to-staff ratio.
- Strong focus on the mental health and emotional well-being of students.
- Students exhibit internalizing behaviors rather than outward aggression.
- The therapeutic program helps students develop skills necessary to reintegrate into the regular education setting.
- High School students attend 1-2 classes at HHS.
- Elementary & Middle School - specials, lunch, recess, and other classes as appropriate.
Building Features
- Sensory Room - A Space that provides various sensory inputs in a calm environment to help students regulate emotions, reduce anxiety, and assist with transitions.
- Functional Living - Allows students to increase independence in the areas of hygiene, cooking, teamwork, etc.
