Principal’s Message

HHS Community,

Last week, we hosted an outstanding Continuing Education Fair. Our students did a wonderful job engaging with representatives and gained valuable insight into the many opportunities available to them after HHS. For those seeking summer employment, we will also host a Job Fair on May 29th. I want to commend our HHS Counseling team for their exceptional work in organizing these experiences and for the ongoing support they provide to our students.

This week, we will conduct our spring lockdown drill. Students will have an opportunity to respond to our new Centegix Alert System based on their given situation. Prior to the lockdown drill I will make an announcement through the PA system to inform them we are conducting a drill and to give them some instructions. It’s important for students to understand that we do not conduct unannounced lockdown drills at HHS, if they do not hear an announcement prior to an alarm, they must treat it as the real thing.

Thursday marks our Spring Sha-Bing event. Our Renaissance Club, Student Council, steering committees, and many others have worked hard to create a fun and engaging experience for students. We look forward to this opportunity to come together as a school community as we enter the final stretch of the 2025–2026 school year.

This Saturday, our Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) will host a Sports Card Show from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM in the Franklin Gym. This event is open to the public, and we encourage you to stop by and support this student-led initiative.

In addition, our spring sports season is in full swing. We invite you to check the calendar and come out to support our student-athletes.

Thank you for your continued support of Hempfield High School. Have a wonderful week!

~Dr. Brossman

The Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) may be sending postcards to a representative sample of families of students receiving special education services, inviting them to participate in a brief survey. This survey helps the state understand how well schools are partnering with families to support students with disabilities. If you receive a postcard, please consider participating—your feedback is anonymous, confidential, and valuable. Not all families will receive a survey, as participants are selected through a statewide sampling process.

Across the Hempfield School District, something meaningful is happening every day. A teacher tries something new. A student discovers something they didn’t know they could do. A community partner steps forward to help make it possible.

This work is built moment by moment… idea by idea… partnership by partnership. We are grateful to share a few of those stories with you.

 Principal’s Message

HHS Community,

Thank you to everyone who came out to support the Anchor Club Craft Fair this past weekend. It was wonderful to see our students’ hard work come to life in such a well-attended and successful community event.

This Wednesday, we will host our annual Continuing Education Fair during Period 3 in the Buchanan Gymnasium. Our School Counseling Department has done an outstanding job organizing this opportunity for our 10th and 11th grade students. With over 80 post-secondary institutions and organizations represented, students will have the chance to explore a wide range of future pathways. This is always one of my favorite events of the year, as it often sparks new ideas and excitement for students who are just beginning to consider their plans after high school.

Also on Wednesday evening, we will hold our spring parent/guardian meeting at 6:00 PM in LG2. All HHS parents and guardians are welcome to attend. Please enter through the main entrance on the Franklin (Stanley Avenue) side of the building. Topics will include scheduling updates, grading and reporting information, a building project update, and a look ahead at upcoming events.

Finally, Dance Theater will present Magic and Mystery on May 1, 2, and 3 in the Performing Arts Center. Tickets can be purchased HERE! This incredible production features more than 100 talented students and promises an engaging evening of dance, theater, and wonder. Journey through enchanted Hogwarts hallways, glamorous masquerade balls, and the shadowy world of classic detective mysteries — all set to an electrifying soundtrack spanning decades of iconic music. With jaw-dropping theatrical effects, dazzling costumes, and powerful performances, Magic and Mystery will take you on a journey unlike anything you've seen before. And when you finally peer into the magic mirror, you just might discover the most extraordinary thing of all — that the magic was inside you the whole time.

Thank you for your continued support of Hempfield High School and have a wonderful week!
