Please consider volunteering for an event at Hempfield High School on Nov. 11 and 12, 2026. Junior Achievement of South Central PA will be there with their STEM Summit. All students in grade 9 will participate in day-long activities related to STEM careers. Volunteers will facilitate one of these activities during the day as students rotate through their station.

Online training is provided as well as on-site support. You do not need to have any special background to volunteer. We will also provide a light breakfast and lunch for volunteers. Please join us as we spend the day empowering and inspiring students. Share this opportunity with friends, neighbors, and colleagues who may be interested in helping our students.

This Week at HHS

Principal’s Message

HHS Community,

Last week we reviewed our safety/security procedures at HHS. Normally, we would hold an assembly to review this material, however, withwithout access to the PAC that was not feasible. I’d like to thank Mr. Binder and the Comm Tech department for their help with putting together our safety video. We will conduct our Fall Lockdown drill at HHS later this month at a date and time to be determined. As was shared with students in the presentation, we do not conduct unannounced lock down drills at HHS. If the alarm sounds without prior notice, they are to treat it as the real thing.

We are excited to begin WIN5 clubs this Friday! Thank you to Mr. Conrad and all the students who worked hard to put these clubs together. This year our theme at HHS is Connections That Matter. Student Council organized a club fair on the first Friday of the school year to promote existing clubs and to share the process for students to organize their own WIN5 club. Students that wanted to start a club needed to complete a WIN5 club proposal form. This form included a name and description of the club. They also had to find an advisor and help get the word out about their club. We want our students to create Connections That Matter, but we are also attempting to foster student leadership at HHS. In order to grow leaders, we need to give them a chance to lead. We understand that there will be an adjustment period with this approach as students work out how to lead their clubs, but we are confident it will be worth the effort. Students that did not wish to be part of a WIN5 club have been assigned to a study club.

HHS Community,

Hempfield High School was placed in a Faculty Hold at approximately 11:05 a.m. today in response to a student matter. A Faculty Hold is a precautionary measure used to help maintain privacy and provide a safe, secure environment while situations such as medical emergencies or other matters are addressed.

East Hempfield Township Police officers and EMS personnel responded to assist. The situation was resolved promptly, and the Faculty Hold was lifted before 11:30 a.m. Normal school activities resumed without disruption to our lunch schedule.

Coincidentally, we reviewed our HHS Emergency Plans with the entire school on Thursday. While today's incident was unplanned, it provided an opportunity for our students and staff to put those procedures into practice. I want to commend our entire student body, faculty, and staff for their cooperation, patience, and maturity throughout the situation. Their response allowed our administrative team and emergency personnel to address the matter efficiently while maintaining a safe and orderly school environment.

Thank you for your continued trust and support as we work together to keep Hempfield High School a safe and welcoming place for our students.
